AgriFoRwArdS Cohort 3 students got together on Thursday 19th May for a picnic in the park to celebrate the closing stages of semester 2, the second of three semesters that form the MSc component of the AgriFoRwArdS CDT program.
From writing literature reviews in human robot interaction, coding convolutional neural networks, completing posters for research projects and tackling the latest in computer vision, it was pretty intense, but well worth it.
To wind down and to take advantage of the beautiful weather, students held a picnic in the park with a ‘bring your own food and drink policy’. Ice creams, drinks, snacks and several Chinese delicacies were all enjoyed while taking in the cool air and beautiful surroundings of the Bishops Palace and Temple Gardens. All just a stones throw away from the bustling Lincoln high street and famous Steep Hill; beautifully situated under the awe inspiring view of Lincoln Cathedral.
Alex demonstrated his hands free can opening skills, Kyle proved it is in fact possible to take a good photo with a drink in one hand, camera in the other on a 30 degree incline. Xumin shared many wonderful delicacies, several of which packed a spicy punch (this is where the ice cream come in). Although not all cohort 3 students could make it, it was a wonderful time to just relax, take a breath and chat about the next stages of the program. As the sun set over the gardens, and the evening come to a close, several students followed on to the pub and then danced the night away.
The next and final component of the MSc consists of a capstone project, bringing together all the previous modules studied, which takes place from June through to September. This also offers a great opportunity to get a head start into the following three year PhD research project. To see an abstract of what the Cohort 3 MSc projects will be, head over to the respective students’ profiles.
