The meeting and lunch, held at the University of Lincoln, involved Cohort 1, 2 and 3 PhD students as well as the CDT Team to welcome the new cohort of CDT MSc students to the programme.

The event began with an introduction by CDT director Prof Marc Hanheide, followed by presentations from Cohort 1 and Cohort 2 PhD students introducing their PhD research. Following the presentations there was an excellent opportunity to network and lunch.

Introducing our new students!

Welcoming a new Cohort is a really exciting time and we can’t wait for them to get started. To see the new Cohort 4 and find out a little more about them you can visit their respective AgriFoRwArdS student profiles.

The event was extremely well received and provided a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow students before the MSc course starts. Cohort 4 students said of the Welcome event:

Andrew Perrett said:

“The welcome event had some very nice curry sandwiches. The event was good in that it separated the CDT cohort from the MSc RAS course and thereby made you feel part of something more than just a degree course.”
“It was nice to see the presentations of the previous cohort members and their research. Had some good conversation afterwards as well.”
“I’m so glad that I was able to take part in the CDT welcome event. Thank you for the warm welcome! I got a chance to meet the amazing students from the previous cohorts and I came to know about the interesting research that they carry out.”
Cohort 1,2 and 3 representatives were excited to welcome the new students and Samual Carter of Cohort 3 said that:
“The introduction was a quick meet and greet. Grey and Roopika presented their research followed by a lunch where I had time to talk the new students. Cohort 4 were keen and ready to get started. I informed them with how the Lincoln Cohort 3 students assigned ourselves to PhD and MSc projects.”

Welcome to all Cohort 4 students!
